National Arts Festival Art Exhibition at St Andrew’s College – Featuring Chanelle Staude picture

We are delighted to invite you to the National Arts Festival Art Exhibition at St Andrew’s College, taking place from 26 June – 6 July 2025 at the Arts Centre in Somerset Street, Makhanda. This accessible and highly visible venue promises an inspiring artistic experience for all visitors.
Opening Function: Friday, 27 June at 2pm
This year’s exhibition embraces the theme: The Art of Seeing – Observation, Imagination, and Expression in Visual Creativity. Visual art has the power to transform observation and imagination into meaningful expression, shaping the way we perceive and engage with the world. Artists explore light, form, and movement, capturing fleeting moments in precise realism or striking abstraction. Their sharp observation allows them to translate reality into something deeply personal yet universally resonant.
This year, we are privileged to feature the extraordinary works of Chanelle Staude, an artist whose career spans more than 35 years. Originally from East London, South Africa, Chanelle holds a BFA (Cum Laude) in Painting and Theory of Art from Rhodes University. Her journey has been shaped by dedication, extensive exhibitions—including 25 solo showcases at the National Arts Festival—and a deep passion for landscape painting. Her distinctive impressionistic style, textured impasto oil technique, and expertise across multiple mediums have made her a celebrated figure in the art world.
Beyond her artistic achievements, Chanelle plays a vital role in mentoring young talent as Head of the Cornish Visual Arts Centre, serving both the Diocesan School for Girls and St Andrew’s College. Her personal story is one of perseverance and triumph, navigating challenges while remaining deeply committed to creative and educational excellence.
We invite you to immerse yourself in this inspiring exhibition, explore the theme of The Art of Seeing, and connect with a vibrant community of artists.
